The All Aboarders have had a busy summer looking after the station which included filling gaps after the winter storms took their toll, creating vibrant displays and planning some exciting new initiatives for next year – watch this space!

In amongst this activity we we invited to join the Anglia in Bloom entry for WHBC town centre, and also as a Community Project. The judges inspected us and made some lovely comments encouraging us to enter the RHS “It’s your neighbourhood” award scheme, which we did.

Anglia in Bloom judges at the station

Anglia in Bloom awards day saw Lynda travel to Huntingdon (by rail of course) where we were pleased to find ourselves in the top 5 for Best Community Garden. We were also judged as part of the overall Welwyn Hatfield BID which won a Gold award.

In October we found out that our entry to the RHS “It’s your neighbourhood” award had resulted in a verdict of Outstanding Level 5 – the highest level available. This recognises our 5+ years of sustained effort to improve and maintain the station for staff & rail users alike. The award entry also gives us access to the RHS community garden resources which should be really helpful.

So a big WELL DONE & THANKYOU to the whole team for gardening rain or shine, for the behind the scenes scheming and organising, for our sponsors & the rail industry staff, and for the public who always have lovely words for us.
